Dust. The number one problem you as a client will face when having your hardwood flooring professionally sanded. We always strive to keep dust at a minimum and with our various dustless sanding techniques and the professional machinery we use; dust has almost become a thing of the past. Due to the minute size of dust particles it is incredibly difficult to have a 100% dust free process so some dust will escape during the process but we are here to give you some tips on how best to keep your clean-up job as minimal as possible when the project is over.
The first tip would be to move any furniture and removable fixtures out of the room before the process is to begin. We will lay covering down before we begin but the number one way to reduce the amount of clean-up after a sanding job is to remove anything you would have to clean before the job. The less furniture and fixtures in the room before the job begins will mean the fewer things you will need to clean.
Another good tip is to seal off them room by covering windows and doorways as dust can travel to adjoining rooms with ease so to keep the dust to one room, covering any gaps dust can travel through is imperative.
Finally when cleaning after the floor has been sanded, we recommend you use a soft cloth along with your household stain removing products. Using soft cloths especially when cleaning other wood furniture or antiques keeps damage to a minimum and removes the dust 100%. For those smaller items or hard to reach cracks and crevices, our best tip would be to use a paintbrush or an old toothbrush to get into those hard to reach places and clear the dust out easily.
